Halil Ibrahim Canter graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine as MD in 1996 and succeeded the residency program in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery department in the same institute in 2003. He attended the Advanced Plastic Surgery Ph.D. and studies in Craniofacial Anomalies, Traumas and Tumors throughout this program and got his Ph.D. degree in 2008. He worked as a clinical fellow in the field of Craniofacial Surgery in the U.S. between 2006-2007. He has the specialty of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Hand surgery and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He got the degree of Associate Professor in 2009 and the degree of Professor in 2014 in Acibadem University. In addition to the lectures and educational activities in Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, he works as consulting physician in two different craniofacial teams of different Universities in Turkey. He has more than 50 scientific papers published in outstanding pear reviewed medical journals. The works as reviewer in more 10 pear review international journals, including Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Burns, International Journal of Dermatology, Lasers in Medical Science etc. and he is in the editorial board of The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal. He got one patent for his invention in the field of distraction osteogenesis. He has been rewarded the first place in best research project of the year competitions in National Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Meetings for four times upto today. He is in The European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and The Turkish Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetics. In addition to being a member of several National Plastic Surgery Societies, he is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The European Society of Craniofacial Surgery, The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and The International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. He joined the charity activities abroad for reconstruction of cleft palate lip patients in third world countries. He is married and the father of three kids.
